Flush tank shall be completely self-contained unit featuring bottom discharge design utilizing Firestone Airstrokeâ pneumatic actuators to control the flushing procedure. Unit shall be linkage-free to minimize wear and maintenance, constructed from heavy .1875” plate steel with .250” x 2” ribs, reinforcing and bracing for structural integrity. Hot dip galvanized final finish. Inflow control valve to be included.
Question: What slopes can I flush?Answer: Slopes from 1.5 to 4% are considered ideal, however slopes from 0.5% to 10% are being successfully flushed. Request technical assistance from our staff for special applications. In general, the greater the slope the less water used at each flushing.Question: How long of a lane can be flushed at once?Answer: Lengths up to 2,400’. Lanes of 1,000’ or less are preferred. Answer: Yes. A pair of 2 x 10 tanks are adequate for up to a double 30 parlor with 250 head holding pen and 44’ of total width. Smaller tanks are available and sized proportionally to serve smaller areas. Still larger tanks may be provided for up to double 48 parlors or larger holding areas up to 48’
total width.

Question: What slopes can I flush?
Answer: A 1% slope is recommended in the parlor (3/4% minimum). The holding area should slope between 2.5% to 5%. Other slopes will work, request technical assistance from our staff for
special applications.

Question: Do flush tanks cost more than a valve flush system (valves, exterior reservoir and underground
Answer: No. When all cost are considered flush tanks are usually the least costly method to provide total parlor and holding pen flush clean up.

Question: Will the Flush Tanks use more water than a high volume hose?
Answer: No. If properly utilized the flush tank system will use virtually the same amount of water but
require only 30 seconds for cleanup compared to 30 minutes with a hose.

Question: Do I need a separate air compressor for the Flush Tanks?
Answer: Typically no. If you have an air operated parlor or crowd gate the flush tanks can use this air system and require less than 3% of the total output. It is recommended air be taken off prior to
any in line oilers.

SAFETY: Keep children and small animals away from the Superflush System. Do not install or leave ladders up the outside of the reservoirs. Be sure any electrical controls within the structure to be flushed are properly installed and grounded and control boxes are kept closed. When performing service work on any part of the system, be certain the pumps and other automatic components are shut off by turning off power supply at the safety disconnect switch(es).

Flush Tank Installation Drawing

Determine mounting location for the flush tank and construct concrete leveling pad if required. See installation drawing for details and minimum required dimensions of concrete pad. Allow a minimum of four days for curing before installing the tank.

Install flush tank on leveling pad.

Attach float valve mounting bracket to the flush tank using (2) 3/8 inch bolts and hex nuts provided. (Shipped inverted to protect from damage.)

Note: Carry 1 inch riser above flush tank.

Mount float valve on mounting bracket and connect 1 inch water supply piping to float valve. The water supply piping must include a shut-off valve near the tank.

Locate flush tank controller in a location convenient to the operator and run 3/8 inch poly tubing to the flush tank. It should be noted controllers are sold separately and are not included with the tank. For each SF Flush tank also order one 831-00-080 Controller.

Connect air tubing to the tank via the air connection fitting at the top of the tank. Connect controller to compressed air supply. If solenoid controller has been purchased, connect to electrical supply. See schematics provided with controller.

NOTICE: Agpro, Inc. recommends the inclusion of a quality air dryer in all Pneumatic Systems. Moisture present in all compressed air systems can create problems for components unless removed on a continuous basis. Consult your local refrigeration company on recommendations for your specific system and climatic conditions.

Air Pillow Replacement
Close water supply shut-off valve and actuate air control valve to drain the tank. Tag the air control valve with a DO NO OPERATE tag.
Enter the tank and disconnect the air tubing at the air pillow to be serviced.
Remove compression elbow.
Remove 3/8 inch X 1 inch capscrews located on the bottom side of the air pillow that secure the air pillow to the supporting framework.
Remove the air pillow.
Install new air pillow, secure mounting capscrews and replace compression elbow.
Exit tank.
Go to the air control valve location and actuate valve to seal. Turn on water supply and check for air bubbles when water level has covered air pillow. If leaks are present repeat procedure.

Seal Replacement
Close water supply shut-off valve and actuate air control valve to drain the tank. Tag the air control valve with a DO NOT OPERATE tag.
Disconnect air supply tubing at top of tank. This is very important to prevent actuation of the tank dump valve while you are working on it. Loss of fingers or hands can easily occur if the air pillow is pressurized.

Laying in front of the water discharge port, reach in and remove (4) 1/2 inch capscrews and hex nuts. Remove bottom seal plate and rubber seal.

Replace rubber seal and bottom seal plate (caulk lightly around bolt holes with silicone type sealant) and tighten 1/2 inch capscrews.

Re-connect air supply tubing at top of thank. Go to control valve location and actuate valve to pressurize the air pillow. Turn on water supply valve and check for water and air leakage when the tank is full.
